Hobart has changed in appearance over the course of nearly 225 years after being founded.  The fire of 1884 determined the outcome of buildings standing on Main Street today.  This clipping from a newspaper that year explains a little more clearly what happen that day. 

   Surely the people of Hobart 1884 were truly impacted by this life changing fire in Hobart.  Since 1884 there hasn't been any disasters of size.  Hobart has started to develope into something of great interest.  Covidien Healthcare now located in the heart of Hobart is reshaping the economy of our small town and surrounding area offering jobs and financial security to many in the outlying area.

   There are still many areas of historic interest in Hobart regardless of the economic makeover of the village.  Many plaques and tributes still exist to commemorate the honored and remind everyone of their accomplishments.
